Professor Susan L. Callahan
Associate Professor of Mathematics
Professor Callahan is a native Missourian. She grew
up in Kansas City and earned her BS and MS from the University of
Missouri-Rolla.
Since coming to Cottey in 1980, her top priority has been
providing high-quality instruction for her students. In 1996 she
received Cottey's Master Educator Award. She has been listed in
Who's Who Among America's Teachers since 2002.
Professor Callahan is currently chair of the science and
mathematics division, and also regularly contributes to College
committee work. She has served on the Faculty Senate, Academic
Committee, Assessment Committee and search committees, and she
chaired the Rank and Tenure Committee for six years.
Professionally, she is active in the Mathematical Association of
America. She recently completed six years as Secretary-Treasurer of
the Missouri Section and she regularly gives papers at the Missouri
Section Meetings.
Professor Callahan's community involvements include Soroptimist
International of Nevada and the (UMR) Miner Music Alumni
Association. Her recreational interests include horseback riding,
playing clarinet, and walking.
