Lunafest Film Festival Returns to Cottey

Date Posted: January 30, 2017 Author: Steve Reed

For the fifth consecutive year, Cottey College is a host location for the LUNAFEST film festival, featuring nine short films by women cinematographers. LUNAFEST will be held on Friday, February 10, in the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the films begin at 7:30 p.m.

Established in 2000 by LUNA, the makers of the Whole Nutrition Bar for Women, LUNAFEST connects women, their stories, and their causes through film. This unique film festival highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine short films by women filmmakers. The films range from animation to fictional drama and cover topics such as women’s health, motherhood, body image, aging, cultural diversity and breaking barriers. A short trailer is available online at www.lunafest.org.

All proceeds from LUNAFEST will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund and the local Moss House. Thus far, LUNAFEST, which is created and funded by LUNA®, The Whole Nutrition Bar for Women®, has raised over $857,000 for the Breast Cancer Fund and over $2,100,000 for other women’s non-profit organizations.

Tickets for LUNAFEST are $5 and are available at the door.

The Center for the Arts is on the northeast corner of Austin and Tower streets in Nevada, Missouri.
