Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Tres Vidas on Sept. 26

Date Posted: September 18, 2018 Author: Steve Reed

Enjoy an evening of music, along with a little history, when Tres Vidas takes the stage at 8 p.m. in the Missouri Recital Hall on the Cottey College campus.

Cottey’s chapter of Alpha Mu Gamma, the national collegiate foreign language honor society, and the campus organization Global Citizens will present this chamber music theatre work for singing actress and trio (cello, piano, and percussion) as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. The production is based on the lives of three legendary Latin American women: Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, Salvadoran peasant activist Rufina Amaya, and Argentinean poet Alfonsina Storni. The show features a wide range of music, including the songs of Mexico, El Salvador, and Argentina; vocal and instrumental tangos; and new music written especially for the production.

Tickets for Tres Vidas are $7 for adults and $5 for those under age 18 or over age 62. Tickets will be available at the door the evening of the performance.

The Recital Hall is inside the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts on the northeast corner of Austin Boulevard and Tower Street in Nevada, Missouri.
