Cottey College is pleased to announce Kim Krause Haddow, Class of 1975, will be the honored speaker at this year’s Commencement on Sunday, May 12.

Haddow is a respected women’s and men’s golf coach. She is the head coach at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona. Since joining Embry Riddle in 2001, Haddow’s women’s team has won every California Pacific Conference championship, and the team has recorded back-to-back top 10 finishes in the NAIA National Championships.

Haddow is accustomed to winning. At the University of Florida, she led her team to two NCAA Championship appearances and her University of Arizona teams were in the NCAA Championships seven times, finishing in second place in 1992. Haddow was the NCAA Coach of the Year that year. Overall, her Division I teams finished in the Top Ten nationally seven times out of nine appearances.

Five of her Arizona golfers went on to compete as professionals in the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) most notably Annika Sorenstam who won the U.S. Open in 1995 and 1996.

In 2017, Haddow received the NAIA Coach of Character Award. Haddow earned an associate degree at Cottey, her bachelor’s degree at Southern Methodist University, and a master’s degree at the University of Arizona. She is also an LPGA Class A golf instructor.

Haddow has stayed connected to Cottey College. In 1998, she served on a committee to determine if Cottey should reintroduce intercollegiate athletics to campus. The first Comets team, basketball, took the court the following year.

She served on the Cottey College Alumnae Association executive board from 1997 to 2003 and was president from 2001-03. She was the Outstanding Young Alumna award winner in 1990.

Haddow is a member of P.E.O. Chapter CD Arizona.
