Cottey Climbs to #2 on Rankings List for Best Regional Colleges

Date Posted: June 17, 2019 Author: Steve Reed

Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri, ranks number two in the College Consensus 2019 list of Best Regional Colleges-Midwest. Cottey also ranks second in the College Consensus list of Best Colleges and Universities in Missouri; fourth in the nation among women’s colleges; and 18th among small colleges nationwide.

College Consensus combines feedback from students with rankings published in magazines, including U.S. News and World Report.

“The Cottey College community collaborates to provide an incredible education for women from around the world,” says Dr. Jann Weitzel, president of Cottey College. “The College Consensus rankings help prospective students learn about us and that’s a great service to those students.”

Cottey College was established in 1884 by Virginia Alice Cottey, a Missouri teacher who had dreamed of helping women receive higher education. The College is owned and supported by the P.E.O. Sisterhood, an international philanthropic organization focused on education for women. This support keeps Cottey strong and gives it the ability to change to meet the needs of today’s students.
