Cottey Hosts Information Session About Proposed Sales Tax to Benefit Hospital on August 2

Date Posted: July 23, 2019 Author: Steve Reed

The public is invited to learn about the proposed sales tax to benefit the hospital at an open meeting to be held at Cottey College on Friday, August 2. Ross Lawrence, a member of Citizens United to Strengthen our Hospital, will present information on the ballot issue in Room 109 of the Rubie Burton Academic Center from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

“We know people have questions about the proposed sales tax designed to benefit the hospital; the vote will be on the ballot next month,” said Dr. Jann Weitzel, President of Cottey College. “We wanted to make our facility available as a public service so that voters could get the information they need to make an informed decision. We are happy to open our doors for this educational purpose.”

“Maintaining the services of Nevada Regional Medical Center is critical to our community,” said Lawrence. “This presentation will explain why the city’s leaders believe this tax will benefit all.”

Questions from attendees will be welcomed.

The Rubie Burton Academic Center is on the southeast corner of Austin and College streets south of Cottey’s Blanche Skiff Ross Memorial Library. Parking is available in the lot accessible off of Chestnut Street. Visitors should enter through the breezeway doors from the parking lot and turn left. Room 109 is just past the student lounge area on the right.
