NEVADA, MO—Cottey College Director of Athletics Dr. Maryann Mitts has announced that Jamie Taylor will be the next head coach of the Comets Softball program.

“We set out to find an individual with high character, a leader both on and off the field, and a person committed to enhancing our softball program,” Mitts said. “We have found that with Jamie and are thrilled to have her join our athletics department.”

Jamie brings over 15 years of coaching and softball experience to Cottey. Most notably was her time as a softball assistant coach and head pitching coach for the University of Missouri-Kansas City. During her time at UMKC, Jamie oversaw the pitching and catching staff and student-athlete recruitment. Jamie has also been very active in the Kansas City softball community since 2007.

“I want to thank Dr. Stefanie Niles, Dr. Landon Adams, and Dr. Maryann Mitts for choosing me to lead this well-established program,” said Jamie. “Cottey softball has established a tradition of excellence over the past few years, and I can’t wait to get to work growing the program and supporting our student-athletes.”

“Jamie’s passion for the game is evident,” said Vice President of Student Life Landon Adams. “I know that she will work diligently for our student-athletes. I am excited for the future of our program and where Jamie will take it.”

Jamie officially began her duties on Monday, August 15.
