Common Reader 2019
All incoming first-year students will be reading Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by David Grann. This book details the disturbing and mysterious deaths of Osage Nation members in the 1920s and how the newly created FBI unraveled the mystery. We believe this book has the potential to guide the leaders, the socially responsible and globally aware citizens that all Cottey students, faculty and staff are or want to become.
If you are interested in learning more about the Osage Nation who once lived in our region, consider taking ANT/IDS 111 Excursion: Osage Culture & History. This course focuses on Osage history and culture through local and regional field trips. (1 credit/first meeting F 8-8:50 /3 additional class meetings TBD and 2 Saturday fieldtrips, September 28 and Nov. 2)
