CARMEN BOURBON, PH.D.
PROFESSOR OF SPANISH
Born in Puerto Rico, Dr. Carmen Bourbon received her doctoral degree in Spanish from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her dissertation, The Voice and the Invisible Violence in the Contemporary Caribbean Short Story, focused on the theme of invisible violence and its damaging effect on women.
Dr. Bourbon specializes in Contemporary Latin American/Spanish Women Writers. Her research interests include Latin American/Spanish Literature, and narrative techniques, especially the interaction of gender and the narrative voice.
Dr. Bourbon is the sponsor of Alpha Mu Gamma Foreign Language Honor Society-Kappa Gamma Chapter, co-sponsor of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society-Missouri Tau Chapter, and sponsor of the student organization Global Citizens.
