Choir Concert Nov. 10

Date Posted: November 2, 2017 Author: Steve Reed

The Cottey College Chamber Singers will present a concert on Friday, November 10, at 8 p.m. in the Missouri Recital Hall of the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts. The concert is free and no tickets are required.

With the theme of “As a Woman Sings,” the Chamber Singers will explore Cottey’s themes of women’s leadership, social responsibility, and global awareness, with several faculty members speaking during the concert on these themes. Music such as “The Beauty of Your Dreams” features the inspirational words of Eleanor Roosevelt, “Kasar Mie La Gaji (The Earth is Tired)” speaks to our responsibility to protect Earth, “The March of the Women” is a suffragist anthem that inspires us to continue fighting for women’s rights, and “Reflection” from the Disney movie Mulan encourages us to show our true selves to the world.

The Chamber Singers are under the direction of Professor Theresa Spencer.

The Center for the Arts is on the northeast corner of Austin and Tower streets in Nevada, Missouri.
