Taikoza Japanese Drum Group to Perform September 7

Date Posted: August 28, 2019 Author: Steve Reed

Experience the thunderous rhythms of the ancestral Japanese Taiko drums when Taikoza performs on Saturday, September 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts at Cottey College.

Hear and feel the resounding voice that Taiko drums give to traditional and new compositions. Roughly translated, Taiko means big drums, and that’s exactly what Taikoza brings: big drums, powerful rhythms and electrifying, room-thumping energy. This exciting group draws from Japan’s rich traditions of music and performance to create a highly visual presentation. With colorful traditional costumes and dynamic motion, Taikoza’s performances are immensely popular with audiences of all ages.

Tickets for Taikoza are $8 for adults and $6 for those under age 18 or over age 62. Tickets will be available at the door the evening of the performance.

The Center for the Arts is on the northeast corner of Austin and Tower streets in Nevada, Missouri.
