The Chellie Club has a snack bar serving sandwiches plus lattes, Italian ices, and some of the best shakes around. Plus there are lots of comfy couches for lounging and visiting, pool and ping pong tables, and often entertainment by student performers.

The Chellie Club is named in honor of Chellie Stevens Wright, a Colorado P.E.O. who was President of Supreme Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood from 1937 – 1939. A woman with vision, fortitude and courage; she was a champion for Cottey at a critical time in its history.
Virginia Alice Cottey presented her College to P.E.O in 1927 and the early years of the unique relationship were often challenging for the College and the Sisterhood. Chellie Stevens Wright led the membership of the P.E.O Sisterhood to meet those challenges.
The construction of the first new building under P.E.O ownership took place during Chellie Stevens Wright’s term as President of Supreme Chapter. It was her daring and determination that led P.E.O. to borrow the money to finish the project. As a tribute to her devotion to Cottey, a recreation room in P.E.O. Hall was named the Chellie Club. The Chellie Club relocated to Reeves in the 1950’s before moving to its present home in Lower Hinkhouse in 1971.
“There will always be two days in my P.E.O. life that will stand out as extremely happy ones” she said. “They are October 19, 1938, when the cornerstone was laid for P.E.O. Hall, and March 25, 1939, when the building was dedicated.”
Chellie Stevens Wright passed away on February 27, 1964.
