Nevada, Mo. – Cottey College is mourning the loss of student Ella Page.
Ella passed away yesterday at her residence off campus. Ella was a senior student from Byron, Minnesota. She was a Business Administration major and a member of the cross-country and indoor and outdoor track teams.
“We are stunned and deeply saddened by this tragic event, and our prayers are with Ella’s family,” said Cottey President Stefanie Niles. “Ella was loved by many across campus. We are all heartbroken and are working to ensure that students and employees have the emotional support they need during this difficult time.”
“Ella brought so much joy to our campus and athletics department,” said Athletic Director Maryann Mitts. “This is an unspeakable loss and our thoughts and prayers are with her family.”
Classes were canceled yesterday afternoon and today. All events and activities scheduled for today are canceled.
The campus community gathered in the Chapel yesterday evening. Additional grief counseling and support services are available on-site to students and employees.
