McGee Stoller

Visiting Assistant Professor of Art

Cottey College, a private liberal arts and sciences college for women, invites applications for a one-year visiting position in art beginning Fall 2021. Required qualifications: MFA or Ph.D. in art, the ability to teach Drawing, Painting, Art Appreciation, and other courses in 2-Dimensional media. The candidate should have a familiarity with a variety of media and techniques in 2D art and be professionally active with a substantial exhibition record. The candidate should also indicate a commitment to teaching as well as service to students. Preferred qualifications include post-graduate teaching experience and experience in designing curriculum.

Enrollment Counselor

Cottey College seeks an Enrollment Counselor to assist high school and  college transfer students in an assigned territory in making informed college decisions through relationship building activities, disseminating information about Cottey through large and small group presentations, phone counseling, and individual interactions. The successful candidate will be a primary point of contact and an informational resource to prospective students, their families and area guidance counselors. This is a 12-month full-time position.

Candidates for this position must possess excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Event planning experience and willingness to travel are essential elements of the position. A bachelor’s degree and proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.

Assistant Softball Coach

Cottey College, a private liberal arts and sciences college for women, is seeking an Assistant Softball Coach. Under general direction of the Head Coach, performs a wide range of difficult-to-complex coaching and administrative activities related to the development and implementation of a competitive collegiate program. This includes, but is not limited to assisting the head coach in all phases of the program in compliance with the mission of the college and NAIA rules and regulations.  This is a 10-month full-time position.

The Assistant Softball Coach recruits students into Cottey College to meet roster minimums; focuses on retention by providing outstanding student-athlete experiences and guides students appropriately on academic and other issues:  enhances the physical, mental, and social development of student-athletes through practices, outside competitions, other activities including community service, and provides a connection point for the campus, alumnae, and the Nevada community.

Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Sports Administration, or related fields from an accredited college or university is preferred. Three years’ softball coaching experience and recruiting, including working familiarity with the rules and regulations of the NAIA. The ability to demonstrate a long-term vision for a collegiate softball program at Cottey College is necessary.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies

Cottey College, a private liberal arts and sciences college for women, invites applications for a visiting one-year assistant professor position in Environmental Studies, starting August 2021. Teaching load typically includes four courses each semester. The successful candidate will have broad training in environmental studies and/or human-environment relations with demonstrated interest in college teaching. Adjunct Music Faculty

Duties include teaching applied strings for beginners through advanced students and a weekly string studio class. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. or D.M.A. in music and experience teaching all strings in higher education; however, candidates with a master’s degree in music and experience teaching all strings will also be considered. Part Time Security Officer

Cottey College, a private liberal arts institution of higher education, located in Nevada, Missouri, is seeking applications for a part time position in our security department as a security officer.  Part Time security officers work various shifts, as needed, and provide safety and security services for the College.  The ideal candidate will possess good communication skills and the ability to work independently with a diverse group of educators, students, staff, and visitors. 

Duties to include, monitor movement of pedestrian and vehicular traffic in and around the Campus by direct visual and video surveillance.  Patrolling the grounds, interior, and exterior of all facilities on foot and vehicular.  Checking interior and exterior doors and entrances to verify security of all facilities.  Generate reports on shift activities and record & report safety, security, and maintenance issues using our work order system and after hours contacting on call maintenance personnel as needed.  Assist first responders with access to buildings and facilities as needed due to emergency requests. 

Please note that college security officers are not police, fire, or ambulance personnel and are expected to call 911 when they identify any situation requiring that assistance.

Additional duties can include, picking up mail on weekends, refueling vehicles returning from trips, cleaning up after evening events, delivering UPS packages to faculty, staff, and residence halls, and transporting students to and from our local Walmart on weekends.  Due to transporting students, this position requires the ability to obtain a Missouri class “E” or equivalent operator’s license.
