Assistant Softball Coach
Cottey College invites applications for the position of Assistant Softball Coach for the 2020-21 Season. Under the direction of the Head Softball Coach, the Assistant Softball Coach is a full-time, 10-month position with out-of-service dates spread throughout the year. The Assistant Softball Coach performs a wide range of difficult-to-complex coaching and administrative activities related to the development and implementation of a competitive collegiate program. This includes assisting the head coach in all phases of the program in compliance with the mission of the college and the NAIA rules and regulations.
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, assist in practice planning and instruction; assist in field preparation and maintenance; assist in coaching during games; scout and recruit potential scholar-athletes; scout opposing teams; monitor student workers; assist with pre- and post-season team conditioning workouts and individual player workouts; be knowledgeable about injury prevention in weight rooms and practices.
Now in its 137th year, Cottey College is a liberal arts college for women located in southwest Missouri that awards baccalaureate and associate degrees. Cottey is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and currently has athletic programs including basketball, cross country, esports, golf, indoor/outdoor track, softball, volleyball, and women’s flag football. The College is focused on growing its athletic program offerings.
Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university and at least three years of softball coaching experience and recruiting, including working familiarity with the rules and regulations of the NAIA. Collegiate pitching experience or outside pitching instruction experience is preferred. Successful candidate must also possess a valid Missouri motor vehicle operator’s license (Class E) or be able to obtain one. A willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment if a college vehicle is unavailable is also desirable.

Assistant Professor of Speech and Theatre
Cottey College, a private liberal arts and sciences institution for women, invites applications for a tenure-track position in speech and theatre, to begin August of 2021. We are seeking vibrant candidates to teach a full range of courses in theatre and speech including, but not limited to: Fundamentals of Speech, Media and Society, Gender and Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Debate, Intro to Theatre, Performance of Lit, and other speech and theatre electives. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research and pedagogical commitments reflect a diverse approach that takes into account issues of gender, race, and leadership, as well as an informed integration of theatre and speech. A terminal degree in either speech or theatre, and at least 18 graduate level credits in each field are preferred. We will consider candidates with an expected completion dates for these credentials by Spring 2022. Additional duties include recruitment, advising, support for our secondary education degree with a certification in speech and theatre, and service to the college. The teaching load is typically four courses per semester including rotation of a course that entails directing a theatre production.

Assistant Professor of Biology
Cottey College, a private liberal arts and sciences institution for women, invites applications for a tenure-track position in biology, to start August 2021. We are seeking an innovative instructor to teach undergraduate courses in anatomy & physiology and principles of biology. Preference will be given to candidates who can also teach cell biology, microbiology or cadaver dissection, or has an interest in overseeing a cadaver lab. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong interest in undergraduate teaching and a willingness to mentor undergraduates involved in scholarly activities such as independent research. The candidate should have a desire to participate in the growth and development of the biology program as well as work with an interdisciplinary scholarly community. A Ph.D. in biology or a doctorate in a medical field is preferred. Candidates with an expected completion of a doctorate by Fall 2021 will be considered. Additional duties will include recruitment, advising, and service to the college. Course load is typically 24 contact hours per academic year.

Under the general direction of the President, the Director provides overall management for the human resource function including, but not limited to, recruitment, employee relations, job descriptions, employee manuals, records management, Title IX, wellness, and benefits administration. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree with a preference for human resources or a related area, three years of personnel management, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to adapt to new technology.
