NEVADA, MO – For the ninth consecutive year, Cottey College has been ranked among the top 10 Regional Colleges in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report in its 2026 Best Colleges Rankings. Cottey earned the #9 spot in the Midwest Region, continuing a nearly decade-long record of excellence.
In addition to its overall ranking, Cottey received recognition in several key categories:
#2 Best Value School
#3 in Social Mobility
#2 in Undergraduate Teaching (tied)
“I am thrilled to see Cottey recognized once again among the best in the Midwest,” said President Dr. Stefanie D. Niles. “Being named the #2 Best Value School and #3 in Social Mobility underscores two of our greatest strengths: providing an affordable, high-quality education and opening doors of opportunity for first-generation and low-income students.”
The U.S. News & World Report Best Regional Colleges category highlights institutions that focus primarily on the undergraduate experience and offer a wide range of programs in the liberal arts, sciences, business, and education. The Midwest region includes both public and private colleges across 12 states.
Dr. Niles also noted the significance of Cottey’s recognition in undergraduate teaching: “Ranking #2 in this category reflects the exceptional dedication of our faculty, who are deeply committed to preparing students for leadership, service, and success in their chosen fields.”
Cottey is one of five Missouri institutions ranked among the top 50 Best Regional Colleges in the Midwest.
