NEVADA, MO – Get ready for a hilarious, heartwarming, and delightfully mischievous journey into the world of underdogs! Cottey College Theatre is delighted to announce its fall production of Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic, in the Wild Center for the Arts, Nov. 7–9, 2025. Directed by Dr. cody allyn page, this fast-paced comedy follows a group of earnest, often-overlooked students who find themselves at a very famous wizarding school—though not the one you’re thinking of.
Puffs is a story for anyone who’s ever felt like they weren’t destined to be the hero—but still showed up, still tried, and still made magic out of friendship and resilience. With tongue-in-cheek nods to a certain popular series, this play celebrates the bravery of those who live in the margins and proves that every story deserves its spotlight.
Bringing this magical world to life will be a dynamic team of artists and designers. Charlie Bevington will keep the spells, mishaps, and hilarity running smoothly behind the scenes. Jaynee Depue is conjuring a playful, flexible world where classrooms, common rooms, and epic battles unfold in a blink. Savannah Topping will cast enchantments of shadow and sparkle to capture the whimsy and danger of the Puff universe, while Professor Laura Chaney and crew bring the mechanics of magic to the stage with clever wizardry of their own. Audiences can also look forward to a bit of magic before the show even begins, thanks to Abby Kohout, who is conjuring an imaginative lobby display and serving as the show’s dramaturg—helping everyone discover the hidden histories, delightful details, and behind-the-scenes secrets of the world of Puffs. Add to that the creativity of cody page, Ella Stiver, and Crista Sellers, and the Puffs will be dressed, propped, and heard in all their underdog glory.
Performances will take place Nov. 7–8 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. at Cottey College in the Wild Center for the Arts. Tickets will be available at the door prior to curtain. Tickets are $7 for students and $10 for general admission. So grab your wand (or at least your sense of humor) and join the Puffs for a story of laughter, loyalty, and the quiet triumph of finding your place. After all, in the end, we are all Puffs.
