Full ArticleThe Cottey College departments of music and dance have upcoming performances that are free of charge and open to the public. All performances will be held in the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts, with the Chamber Singers performing in the Missouri Recital Hall and the Wind Ensemble and dance concerts being held in the Auditorium.
On Friday, April 27, at 8 p.m., the Cottey College Chamber Singers will present their spring concert under the direction of Professor Theresa Spencer. Choral pieces to be performed range from a delightful trio of songs on the musings of Winnie the Pooh to a modern arrangement of a 12th century chant by Hildegard von Bingen.
On Sunday, April 29, at 3 p.m., the Cottey College Wind Ensemble will perform under the direction of Dr. Jackie Lordo and Prof. Gary Johnson. Selections include “Armenian Rhapsody” by Johnnie Vinson, “Fairest of the Fair” by John Philip Sousa, “Music from The Incredibles” by Giacchino/Bocook, and “Rhythm Stand” by Jennifer Higdon.
Cottey College’s dance department is also pleased to present its semi-annual Informal Dance Concert on Tuesday, May 1, at 8 p.m. This informal event will feature performances by students in all of the Cottey dance classes.
The Center for the Arts is on the northeast corner of Austin and Tower streets in Nevada, Missouri.
