Cottey College is pleased to announce Dr. Landon Adams as the new Vice President for Student Life, a role in which he leads a team of professionals who manage  functions related to students’ needs outside the classroom including residence life, counseling, athletics and activities.  He replaces Dr. Mari Anne Phillips who is retiring.

Dr. Adams comes to Cottey College from Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) in Joplin, Missouri, where he served as Director of Student Life and Conduct; Deputy Title IX Coordinator.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Marketing at MSSU, a Master of Business Administration in Leadership at Adams State University in Colorado, and a Doctor of Education in Instructional Leadership in Higher Education Administration at Lindenwood University.

Dr. Adams brings with him experience in housing, campus activities, health services, and recreation services teams.  He has worked collaboratively with counseling services as chair of the Behavioral Intervention Team and with the Biennial Review Task Force, the Safe Zone Committee, and the Partners in Prevention Coalition.

Prior to Missouri Southern, Dr. Adams served as account executive with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Double-A Baseball Team and as the Assistant Director of Marketing and Media Relations with the Helena Brewers Rookie League Baseball Team.

Dr. Adams is certified by the Association for Student Conduct Administration as a student conduct director and by the LGBTQ Academy & SafeZone program as a Train the Trainer.

“Dr. Adams is a student-centered, data-driven administrator and brings with him a desire to work cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff, across departments and hand-in-hand with Institutional Research in the area of assessment,” said Dr. Jann Weitzel, President of Cottey College. “We are excited to welcome him to campus.”

Dr. Adams first day was June 3.
