Instrumental Music Concert Feb. 25

The Cottey College Department of Music will host an Instrumental Music Concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, in the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts. The performance is free and no tickets are required.

The concert will feature the Cottey College Wind Ensemble with guest artists Prof. Freddie Green and the Cottey College Chamber Singers. Prof. Green is an acclaimed musician who has performed on trumpet throughout the United States including performances with jazz legend Sam Rivers, the Flamingos, The Four Freshmen, and other prominent musicians of the industry. Prof. Green will perform the “Concertino for Trumpet and Band” by Frank Erickson. Other selections included in this concert include “Rise of the Firebird” by Steven Reineke, “Beyond Bold Horizons” by Larry Neeck, and “Songs of Old Kentucky” by Brant Karrick. The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Jackie Lordo and Prof. Gary Johnson. The Chamber Singers are under the direction of Prof. Theresa Spencer.

The Center for the Arts is located on the northeast corner of Austin and Tower streets in Nevada, Missouri.
