Gain valuable, real-world experience and earn course credit with a local, state-wide, national, or international internship.
WHAT IS AN INTERNSHIP? An internship is a supervised work experience related to your major or career interests. You’ll work with a faculty member and a site supervisor to create learning goals and earn course credit. Since you receive credit, most internships are unpaid.
It is monitored by a faculty member and an internship site supervisor and offers course credit. (Because internships earn course credit, they are often unpaid.)
ELIGIBILITY & ENROLLMENT To be eligible, you must have second semester, first-year standing or higher with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater.
Here’s how to enroll:
- Visit with the Director of Career Services for information on internship sites.
- Get the Student Handbook for Internships.
- Choose a faculty member to supervise you.
- Complete the Internship Learning Contract (found in Required Documents) with your faculty sponsor and site supervisor.
- Obtain an Internship Add Form from the Career Services office and submit both completed forms to Kim Severance for approval.
CREDIT & GRADING Cottey awards 1 to 3 credits for an internship. Up to 12 hours for Bachelor candidates can count toward graduation. The tuition cost for a summer internship is $150 per credit hour.
Internships are graded on a Pass/Fail basis. To receive credit, you must complete your work, submit a Time and Activity Log, and submit your signed evaluations from yourself, your site supervisor and faculty sponsor.
