Mentors

Dyllen Andrews

Fourth Year Student

From Santa Monica, California

B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology and Theatre

Little bit about me:

“Hey everyone! I am so excited to meet you all in the fall! Some fun facts about me is that I’m naturally blonde, my guilty-pleasure snack is hot Cheetos and cream cheese, and I am working this summer as a camp counselor and lacrosse coach in Maine!”

What is one piece of advice for new students:

“My best piece of advice is to be kind to yourself. Adjusting to new living spaces, academic expectations, and independence is a lot! Allow yourself to celebrate the little things, those are what will help you accomplish the big things!”

Little bit about me:

“I am big fan of going for a little adventure! Going to get a treat? Take me along. Going to the store? Oh, I will join in! I love being on the go and seeing new things!

Over this year at Cottey, I’ve been able to do so many exciting things by doing just that, going on little adventures, and not holding back! I also LOVE cats; my three babies are my pride and joy. Ask me about Moose, she is the love of my life!”

What is one piece of advice for new students?

“No matter what comes your way, even if you feel like the world is ending, you will be okay. There are so many people here willing to help you, and no one, and I mean no one, wants you to fail.”

Michaela Ewaszko

Fourth Year Student

From Cumby, Texas

Health and Biomedical Science Major

Little bit about me:

“I live in a small town in Texas called Miller Grove. I have an obsession with chickens. I love to read on my free time and listen to all kinds of music.”

What is one piece of advice for new students?

“One piece of information that I would give to new students is to not procrastinate work. It is so hard to have to catch up on work in college and it can be easy to fall behind or miss assignments if you wait until the last minute to study or work on a project.”

Little bit about me:

“Hi guys! I’m looking forward to working with you all this semester and making this transition as seamless as possible. A couple of things about myself: I enjoy mustard in all forms, I know how to crochet, and I love being outside when the weather is like 72 and there is a light breeze.”

What is one piece of advice for new students?

“One piece of advice I have for new students is to acknowledge the weight of a new chapter and figure out the best ways to overcome new situations for YOU (and work on it early, it helps)!”

When I’m not working on schoolwork, I like to play Stardew Valley and watch Dimension 20 or Pokémon. Over the summer, I work at Kauffman Royals Stadium as an usher.”

What is one piece of advice for new students?

“The sooner you get involved in a club or activity, the easier it is to make room for it in your schedule and stick with it!”

What is one piece of advice for new students?
