Please see the following for the College’s response to the COVID-19 virus. This is an evolving situation and these items can be adjusted at any point. The College will continue to update this information as changes become necessary.
Masks: Cottey is mask optional. Students, faculty, staff, and visitors are welcome to still wear a mask on campus, and we encourage all members of campus to be courteous in respecting individuals’ choices.
Testing: Cottey will not be requiring a COVID-19 test when students arrive for classes. However, free tests will still be available in the Health Services Office when prescribed by a Cottey medical provider.
Dining: Cottey will still require a temperature scan upon entrance to the dining room.
Vaccines: At this time Cottey is not requiring the vaccine for the 2021-2022 or the 2022-2023 academic year, but the College encourages everyone to carefully consider receiving a vaccine. Learn more about the vaccine at https://covidvaccine.mo.gov/.
Please note, the College does require participants in the International Experience program to be up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations and available boosters.
Contact Tracing & Quarantine and Isolation: Cottey will continue to leave a number of spaces on campus unassigned so that they are available for quarantine and isolation as needed. In accordance with CDC guidelines, people who are unvaccinated or are more than six months out from their second mRNA dose (or more than 2 months after the J&J vaccine) and not yet boosted, the CDC now recommends quarantine for 5 days followed by strict mask use for an additional 5 days.
Additionally, Cottey will no longer automatically quarantine the suitemates of a student with a positive test. Instead, Cottey will only isolate students who have a positive COVID-19 test and quarantine those who are unvaccinated or are more than six months out from their second mRNA dose (or more than 2 months after the J&J vaccine) and not yet boosted.
Vaccination Records: Students are encouraged to get vaccinated and provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination record to Robin Conner in health services. This can be accomplished by:
- Emailing an image of the vaccination card to email@example.com.
- Texting the image to the health services text line at 417-765-0343.
- Uploading the image through the “Health – Medications/Allergies/Insurance/Health History” form that can be found on the Student Life tab in MyCottey.
- Delivering a copy of the vaccination record or card to the Student Wellness Center when you arrive on campus.
Providing your vaccine information will help us have a measure of vaccination rates within our campus community and guide how we might adjust our policies to promote a safe working and learning environment. Vaccine information and records will be kept confidential. Students may contact Robin Conner or Jeanna Simpson at extension 2157 with any questions.
If your family income has changed due to the pandemic, we would like to speak with you regarding possible changes to your FAFSA. Please reach out to Financial Aid at firstname.lastname@example.org or 417-448-1445.
